What is Premature Ejaculation?

Premature ejaculation is a common issue that can happen to guys during sex. It’s when a man ejaculates (releases semen) too quickly, often in less than 2 minutes after starting. More than 30% of men have experienced premature ejaculation at some point, and they find it hard to hold off or slow down their ejaculation. This happens more often in guys between 18 and 35 years old, while the usual time they can last during sex is about 7 minutes.

What Makes Premature Ejaculation Happen?

We’re not entirely sure what causes premature ejaculation because it can result from various things: feelings in your head (like emotions and stress), how your body works (like high blood pressure or being too sensitive), and your way of living. Things like being upset, stressed, anxious, or feeling down might be part of it. It can also be because of physical issues, such as high blood pressure, being super sensitive, having diabetes, or drinking too much. But, increasing the level of a chemical called serotonin in your body seems to help because it’s linked to things like hunger, sleep, and wanting to have sex.
