Description
What is Amorolfine?
Amorolfine is a specialised antifungal nail lacquer formulated to treat nail infections caused by fungi. It contains amorolfine hydrochloride, which works by inhibiting fungal growth, tackling a wide variety of fungi responsible for these infections.
How should I use it?
- File down the infected nail as much as possible and cleanse it with a swab to remove any oils or residue.
- Using the provided spatula, apply the lacquer to the entire affected nail once a week, without wiping off any excess gel on the bottle’s edge.
- Allow the lacquer to dry for about 3 minutes. Once applied, clean the spatula with the swab used to cleanse the nail.
- Use separate nail files for healthy nails and avoid artificial nails or polish during treatment.
Amorolfine is available in 3ml or 5ml packs. The Curanail over-the-counter option treats up to two infected nails, while the prescription Amorolfine 5% Nail Lacquer can treat multiple infected nails.
How long does it take to work?
For fingernails, treatment should be maintained for approximately 6 months, and for toenails, between 9 to 12 months, until the nail fully regenerates and heals. A doctor should review the treatment every three months to ensure continued effectiveness.
Are there any side effects?
Some users may experience side effects, including brittle, discoloured, or damaged nails.
