What is Calpol Infant Oral Suspension?

Calpol Infant Oral Suspension is a liquid medicine specifically designed for babies and young children. It contains paracetamol, which is used to reduce pain and fever, and it has a strawberry flavor to make it more palatable for little ones.

What is Calpol Infant Oral Suspension used for?

Calpol Infant Oral Suspension is commonly used to help relieve symptoms of:

  • Colds and the flu
  • Headaches
  • Teething
  • Toothaches
  • Earaches
  • Fever after vaccinations
  • Other aches and pains

How does Calpol Infant Oral Suspension work?

Calpol works by delivering paracetamol, which is an effective pain reliever and fever reducer. Since babies and young children can’t have as much paracetamol as adults, Calpol Infant Oral Suspension is formulated with the appropriate dosage for children.

How long does Calpol Infant Oral Suspension take to work?

You can expect to see a reduction in your child’s pain or fever within about 15 minutes of giving them the medicine.

Who can’t use Calpol Infant Oral Suspension?

Calpol Infant Oral Suspension is suitable for babies and children aged 2 months to 6 years. However, it is not recommended for babies under 2 months. Additionally, if your child is allergic to paracetamol or any other ingredients in Calpol, they should not take this medicine.

How do I use Calpol Infant Oral Suspension?

Use the provided dosing syringe to measure the correct amount based on your child’s age:

  • 3-6 months old: 2.5mL, up to four times a day
  • 6-24 months old: 5mL, up to four times a day
  • 2-4 years old: 7.5mL, up to four times a day
  • 4-6 years old: 10mL, up to four times a day

Ensure each dose is spaced at least four hours apart, and do not exceed four doses per day. If symptoms persist for more than three days, consult a pharmacist or doctor.

How should Calpol Infant Oral Suspension be stored?

Store the bottle in a cool, dry place, ideally under 25°C. When not in use, keep it in the box to protect it from light and dust.
