Canesten 1% External Cream is an antifungal treatment used to treat various fungal infections such as:
- Ringworm
- Athlete’s foot
- Fungal nappy rash
- Fungal sweat rash
- External thrush (on sensitive areas like the vulva or the tip of the penis)
It provides fast relief from itching, redness, and discomfort associated with these infections.
How does Canesten Cream treat thrush?
Canesten External Cream contains clotrimazole, a powerful antifungal agent. It works by attacking the fungus responsible for thrush, killing it and preventing it from spreading. This helps alleviate symptoms like itching and irritation.
How to use Canesten External Cream:
- Pierce the seal of the tube before use.
- Apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected area 2 or 3 times a day. Gently rub it in.
- Use a ½ cm long strip of cream to cover an area about the size of your hand.
- Treatment typically lasts for at least 2 weeks, but for some infections, it may take up to 4 weeks.
- If symptoms do not improve within a few days or persist after the treatment period, consult your doctor.
How long does it take Canesten Cream to treat thrush?
Canesten Cream usually clears up thrush symptoms within 2 weeks. If symptoms persist after 4 weeks, consult your doctor.
Can you use Canesten Cream internally?
No, Canesten External Cream is for external use only. If you accidentally swallow it or use it inside the body, seek medical attention immediately.
