Description
What is Daktarin Oral Gel?
Daktarin Oral Gel is a treatment designed to clear up oral thrush, a fungal infection in the mouth and throat caused by the fungus Candida. It’s especially useful for individuals with weakened immune systems, those on certain medications, or those with conditions like pregnancy or denture use. The gel contains 2% miconazole, an antifungal agent that targets and stops the growth of the infection.
While you may start to feel relief in just one day, it’s recommended to continue using it for up to seven days to completely clear the infection. The gel is sugar-free, which makes it safe for your teeth, and it comes with a pleasant orange flavour, making it suitable for both adults and children over 2 years old.
How do I use Daktarin Oral Gel?
- Wash your hands thoroughly.
- Use 2.5ml (half a measuring spoon) of the gel and apply it directly to the affected area in your mouth. This should be done four times a day after meals.
- Try to avoid swallowing or washing the gel away with saliva immediately to allow it to stay on the infected area for better effectiveness.
- For children, apply the gel to the front part of the mouth only.
- If you wear dentures, apply the gel to them before bedtime to ensure they are not reinfected.
Important Tips:
- Continue using the gel for seven consecutive days, even if symptoms improve earlier, to fully eliminate the infection.
