What is Eumovate and When is it Used?
Eumovate is a topical medication used to treat eczema and dermatitis. It effectively reduces and soothes the redness, itching, and inflammation associated with these skin conditions.
What are Eczema and Dermatitis?
Eczema is a skin condition characterized by itchy, dry, and irritated skin. Dermatitis is a form of eczema that occurs when the skin comes into contact with irritants, such as strongly scented soaps or cleaning products. Symptoms of eczema may include:
- Patches of dry skin
- Redness
- Itching
- Swelling
- Cracked skin
How Do You Use This Treatment?
To use Eumovate:
- Wash your hands thoroughly.
- Squeeze a small amount onto your fingertip (about the size of your palm from fingertip to the first crease of your index finger).
- Gently rub the cream onto the affected area once or twice daily.
- Wash your hands again after application unless you are treating your hands.
When Should You Not Use Eumovate?
Eumovate is not suitable for children under 12. Avoid using it if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Do not use Eumovate for:
- Infected skin (e.g., chickenpox, cold sores, herpes, athlete’s foot, thrush)
- Acne
- Rosacea
- Non-swollen itchy skin
- Eczema near a leg sore
Also, do not apply it to:
- Large areas of skin
- The face, private parts, or between the toes
- Open wounds
- Areas covered by bandages or dressings
How Should I Keep Eumovate?
Store Eumovate in a dry, cool place, away from temperatures above 25°C.
