A Fingertip Pulse Oximeter is a compact device designed to measure the oxygen saturation level in your blood (SpO2). It operates by shining a light through your finger and assessing how much light is absorbed, which indicates the oxygen level. While it can’t diagnose conditions like COVID-19, it can help monitor oxygen levels, as some individuals with COVID-19 may experience low oxygen saturation. Additionally, the device provides real-time readings of your pulse rate and pulse strength on its display.

How Do I Use the Haftek Fingertip Pulse Oximeter?

1. Place your index or middle finger on the sensor with your fingernail facing up.
2. Press the power button on top of the device and wait approximately 30 seconds.
3. The screen will illuminate, displaying your readings after about 10 seconds. For optimal accuracy, keep it on for the full 30 seconds.
4. Record the highest steady reading for your blood oxygen level (left side of the screen) after at least 5 seconds.
5. The right side displays your pulse rate, and the middle shows your Perfusion Index (PI%), indicating pulse strength (ranging from 0.02% to 20%).

 

For accurate results, ensure your fingernail is clean, and your hand is warm before using the device. Detailed instructions are provided in the user manual included with the product.

 

What Are Healthy Blood Oxygen Measurements?

• Normal Levels: 95% to 100%
• Caution: If readings are between 93% and 94%, consider consulting a doctor or calling 111 for advice.
• Emergency: Seek medical attention immediately if your reading drops below 92%, or if you have COPD, below 88%.
