Description
What is Imigran Nasal Spray?
Imigran Nasal Spray is a treatment designed for individuals who experience fewer than 10 migraines per month. It contains sumatriptan as its active ingredient, which belongs to a class of medications known as triptans.
How does it work?
Migraines are thought to occur due to temporary swelling of blood vessels in the head. Imigran Nasal Spray contains sumatriptan, which constricts these blood vessels, thereby stopping the migraine and alleviating the associated symptoms.
How do I use Imigran Nasal Spray?
Administer the spray into one nostril. If the migraine returns, you can use the spray again after waiting at least two hours. If the initial spray does not work, avoid using another spray for the same migraine. Do not exceed 40mg in one day.
How is Imigran Nasal Spray different from Imigran tablets?
Medically, both forms contain the same active ingredient and work in the same way. However, the nasal spray begins to work in approximately 15 minutes, whereas Imigran tablets typically take between 30 and 60 minutes to take effect.
