Description

What are Sodium Cromoglicate 2% w/v Eye Drops?
Sodium Cromoglicate 2% w/v Eye Drops is a medication designed to reduce allergic reactions in the eyes, such as those caused by hay fever or year-round allergies (e.g., pet hair or dust mites). The active ingredient is sodium cromoglicate.

What are Sodium Cromoglicate 2% Eye Drops used for?
These eye drops are used to treat allergic conjunctivitis, which causes symptoms like itchy, watery, red, or swollen eyes and puffy eyelids. These symptoms can be triggered by allergens such as pollen, dust mites, or pet dander.

How do Sodium Cromoglicate 2% Eye Drops work?
Sodium Cromoglicate works by preventing the release of histamine, a chemical responsible for allergic reactions. Unlike antihistamine medicines that work after histamine is released, sodium cromoglicate stabilises mast cells to stop the release before it occurs.

How do you use Sodium Cromoglicate 2% Eye Drops?

  1. Wash your hands.
  2. Remove the cap or tip of the bottle.
  3. Tilt your head back and gently pull down the lower eyelid of the affected eye to create a pocket.
  4. Hold the bottle over your eye and release one or two drops.
  5. Close your eye and gently press the area between your eye and nose to prevent spilling.
  6. Repeat for the other eye if needed.
  7. Re-cap the bottle.

What dose of Sodium Cromoglicate 2% w/v Eye Drops do I need?
Apply one or two drops to the affected eye(s) four times a day. If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember, but do not use extra drops to make up for a missed dose.

Who should not take Sodium Cromoglicate 2% Eye Drops?
Consult a doctor before use if you wear soft contact lenses, have dry eye disease, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have had an allergic reaction to eye drops in the past.

How do you store Sodium Cromoglicate 2% Eye Drops?
Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C. After opening, use within four weeks. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiration date.

Should I use Sodium Cromoglicate Eye Drops with contact lenses?
If you wear soft contact lenses, remove them before using the drops. Wait 15 minutes before reinserting the lenses. The drops may affect soft contact lenses and cause discolouration.

How long does it take for Sodium Cromoglicate 2% Eye Drops to work?
Relief may begin within 2-3 days of using the eye drops. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor.

Can I use Sodium Cromoglicate 2% Eye Drops during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Consult your doctor before using if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
